Automotive sales in Australia were chasing their 2013 tale at the end of December, finishing with 1,113,224 units compared to 1,136,227 at the same time the previous year. This represents a 2% drop overall in sales, with drops in every vehicle market segment except SUV which saw a jump of 5.6%.
Demand in SUV’s is definitely driving much of the manufacturer’s product ranges at the moment with most now removing traditional wagon offerings and downsizing their range overall. Small SUV’s saw the greatest jump at 16.5% increase year on year.
Every state except NSW had a YTD retraction, showing a slight increase of 1.5% over the previous year, whilst Tasmania had the biggest drop at -9.7%.
