Report Card – Jan to Jun 2014 – Top Car Brands

We’re already six months down the line and the battle for the car of the year seems to be really heating up, The Jan to Jun ’14 period has seen some interesting insights. The gap between leaders seem to be closing in to an exciting finish. Those lagging behind face the danger of dropping off the list altogether.  

Top 3 car models

  1. Mazda 3 – The top selling car has retained its spot since the beginning of Jan ’14, but is facing tremendous competition from the 2nd placed Toyota Corolla.
  2. Toyota Corolla – Though it faced a massive gap of 50,000 units in Jan ’14 as compared to Mazda 3, clever positioning and aggressive marketing has seen Toyota Corolla close this gap to just 358 units now.
  3. Toyota HiLux – It maintains its third spot, despite a drop in sales of its popular 4X4 variant.

Top 25 car brands

While the leaderboard doesn’t see much of a change, trends ensure that the end of 2014 will be a lose fight between leading car brands. For now, here are the top 25 car brands –

  1. Toyota – Despite a 4.7% drop in sales, Toyota leads the race with 101,105 units
  2. Holden – Topples Mazda for second spot at 56,773 units
  3. Mazda – Though Mazda 3 leads the race in top car models, the brand has slipped to third spot with 51,910 units

Suzuki and Great Wall bring up the rear reporting significant drop in sales and facing the danger of dropping off the list altogether b December 2014. Here is the complete listing of top 25 car brands –
